“Varnam” is an annual painting competition for children organized by Finland Malayalee Association. An event where children get a chance to put down their imagination on paper and give it colors with the medium they are comfortable with.
Every year FIMA conducts the painting competition in the second half of November for children in the age group of 6 to 15. The paintings from the event are collected and are shown across the libraries in the capital region of Finland. In 2016, more than 30 children of Indian origin participated in the event. The judges of the event in 2016 were Mr.Kaj Frosblom and Mrs. Rafaella Seppälä. Ambassador of India in Finland Shri. Ashok Kumar Sharma presided over the event as the chief guest.
The participants were felicitated by the Embassy of India in an event held together with the first exhibition of the painting works in Entresse, Espoon Keskus Library.
Further, exhibitions of the works were held at the Etala haaga Library as well as the Library 10 in Helsinki.
